Imprint Academic publishes mainly in the fields of philosophy, history, political theory and consciousness studies. The company was founded in 1980, and is based in Exeter, UK. Imprint Academic books are distributed in the UK by Central Books and in the US by Ingram Publisher Services.

The serial, Journal of Consciousness Studies, launched in 1994, is the most widely-read peer-reviewed publication in the burgeoning multi-disciplinary field of consciousness research .
