Book Printing Services Provided

Printing

All books are printed on the latest sheet-fed presses, thereby avoiding the problems of low-resolution digital web books (poor-quality halftones and over-dark text). imprintdigital.net presses are tuned to emulate litho; in fact our halftones, produced with the latest generation of emulsion aggregate (EA) toners, are arguably better than offset printing on lighter-weight uncoated book paper (request brochure with examples), which in turn can lead to significant savings on paper and mailing charges.
Randomly-placed Colour

We also have machines that can print colour pages wherever you like throughout the book without the need for dedicated signatures – you only pay colour rates for the colour pages, mono for the rest. Details

Advance Publicity Copies

Short-run digital is also suitable for preparing bound proofs in temporary covers for advance publicity purposes. Covers are not generally laminated and there is no setup/proof charge, so please select the appropriate options on the price calculator
Perfect Binding
(paperback books)

Covers are printed on 240 gsm Trucard (FSC). Books are perfect-bound and 3-knife trimmed in-house using the latest computerised equipment. We can bind up to 320x320mm with spine widths from 1–50 mm.
Saddle Stitching
(stapled booklets/brochures)

Stapled booklets and brochures are produced on our new Oce inline finisher with automatic foredge trimming and "squareback" facility which adds a square spine for lay-flat stacking.
Case Binding (hardback books)

Case binding (double-fan coldset) is available via our colleages at Barwell Bookbinding and economic for short runs (up to 100 copies). The average price premium is £3 per copy – please enquire for further details.

Laminating

Digitally-printed covers are liable to marking during handling so lamination should be considered for high-value items. Gloss lamination is recommended, but two forms of matt are also available, subject to certain caveats.

Digital (nylon) gloss - This is the most economical option and the specialist nylon film that we use lies completely flat.

Digital (nylon) silk - This lies equally flat but has a silky sheen. The film is slightly opaque and can add a milky hue when darker colours are used.

OPP matt - This film is completely matt and translucent but, as OPP provides an impervious membrane, is prone to curl when exposed to extreme atmospheric humidity variations. This is an inherent problem with digitally-printed covers, owing to the heat involved in the printing process. The covers are flat when they leave our premises but their ongoing stability will depend on the humidity conditions of your storage and display location.

Addition of Barcodes

We are able to create a barcode incorporating your ISBN and add it to your cover. This service is charged at £12 per barcode. Note: it is the publisher's responsibility to obtain their own ISBN (if required) from Nielsen (UK ISBN agency)
