Q. Do we do typesetting and design?
A. No, we print from press-ready pdfs. However we can recommend the services of Swales & Willis Ltd
Q. Do we accept Word files?
A. No, we need proofed and press-ready pdfs (Adobe Acrobat).
Q. How do I place an order?
A. Please place your order online via our quote/order page, supplying all relevant information.
Q. Can I make changes after the proof has been printed
A. Yes you can make changes. Changes will be charged at £12.00 per file amended.
Q. How do I pay?
A. You can pay via our online secure server with a Debit/Credit card or by BACS transfer. Cheques are also accepted but can delay turnaround time. Please contact us for further details.
Q. When do I pay?
A. Full payment is expected once you have approved the proof copy.
Q. How do I send files?
A. Please download Pitstop Connect from our website . Pitstop Connect will pre-flight your files, highlighting any potential problems. If you experience difficulties doing this please contact us.
Q. What size should I design my Spine?
A. The width of your spine will depend on the paper type and the amount of pages in your book. The spine width is displayed when you get a quote and place an order.
Q. What size should I design my cover?
A. You will need to allow a minimum of 3mm of bleed on all edges of your cover. This will mean that artwork for an A5 (210x148 mm book) will end up 216 x 302 mm + the width of the spine. Note: the extra bleed margin is trimmed off in the binding process so please allow for this when positioning cover images and text.
Q. What are my delivery options?
A. Delivery options can be selected at the time of making the order. We use DHL for our smaller deliveries, who ususally deliver within 1-2 working days. For a premium they also offer a guaranteed next day delivery between the hours of 0800 and 1000. On most large orders it is more cost effective send out a pallet, again a premium is charged if you require a timed delivery. Delivery costs are shown on the online price calculator
