    William Irwin Thompson is a poet and cultural historian and the author of sixteen books, most recently, Coming into Being: Artifacts and Texts in the Evolution of Consciousness. He took his doctorate at Cornell University in 1966, and has taught at Cornell, MIT, and York University in Toronto. From 1972 to 1997 he served as Founder and Director of the Lindisfarne Association (Lndsfrn@aol.com). Recently he has designed an evolution of consciousness curriculum for the Ross School in East Hampton, New York, and serves as a consultant to the school’s administration and faculty.
